What’s Your Writing Dream?
By Deb Gallardo
Today I’m asking you for your direct feedback. I want to know what your writing dreams are.
- Do you want to write “The Great American Novel?” (Insert your country of origin for “American” if it doesn’t apply.)
- Have you got an interesting story to tell about your life that you’d like to fictionalize?
- How about writing an autobiography?
- Do you know an interesting real-life “character” whose life you’d like to write about, either fiction or non-fiction?
- Have you always told your children/grandchildren little stories that they love hearing and your family thinks you should get them published?
- Do you have a novel sitting in a drawer or gathering cyber dust on your computer’s hard drive?
- Have you always wanted to write but never could find something that caught your imagination enough to compel you to start writing?
- Do you feel there’s a book inside of you?
- Do you dream of writing, but fear there ISN’T a book inside you?
- Have you written and perhaps published one book but you’re worried there are no more books left for you to write?
There are so many other possibilities that I couldn’t possibly list them all.
Feel free to share your dreams in the comments section that follows, or email me privately at deb (at) debgallardo (dot) com. Since I’m essentially asking you to pour your heart out, I understand that you may not want your thoughts viewed publically.
What I will do with your responses, whether public or private, is to write blog posts that will help you and others like you who dream of writing but haven’t yet. It may seem that you are the only one who feels as you do, but I assure you that there are many someones out there who share your hopes and fears and dreams about writing. Regardless, if you send me your response in private, I will never reveal anything that would identify you in my blog posts. That should go without saying, but it bears spelling out.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to share your dreams with me.

I’ll be happy to share my writing dreams. Simply, I would like to be able to just write on the fly and be able to add content easily to my blogs and websites. It takes a lot out of me to get the right words sometimes and then having to keep writing over and over until that one piece is correct is frustrating at times. It takes me too long to put one piece of writing together whether it be a blog post or article. I would like to be able to easily put words together without putting a ton of time into it but still make it interesting.
Let’s see, I would also ultimately like to put together a few guides and reports.
It’s funny, I can usually write on forums, via email and on blogs to others but when it comes to my own stuff, I have a mental block.
So although it’s not a big book writing dream, it is my writing dream. I love your story idea posts because I can usually pull something out of them to fit what I need.
Hope this helps!

Angie,
I don’t think you’re alone in your struggle to figure out what to write. I’m glad you can make the leap from fiction ideas to non-fiction ideas. Also, feel free to steal from my blog post topics. You could write a “Share Your Weight Loss Dreams” post, for example. No reason you couldn’t adapt my topics for your blog. Or write about your own dreams on other topics.
And here’s another tip:
Since writing emails and comments isn’t hard for you, write an email to “someone” in your market about your subject, sharing one tip or ten or whatever number. Voila! You’ve got a blog post. And 350 words isn’t much. That’s all you would need to shoot for. My trouble is in not saying too much! LOL
Thanks for sharing your writing dreams. May they come true for you soon.
