Creative Writing – - Another Blow for Writer’s Block

By Deb Gallardo

Samantha Fredell advises writers stuck for Creative Writing ideas not to panic. The key is to focus on what’s going on around you – awake or asleep. I’d say it’s time to invest in plenty of inexpensive writing pads so they’re handy wherever you are. Now if they’d just make notepads for “Dreamland,” that would make writing down my dreams sooo much easier than trying to remember once I awaken…

Creative Writing Ideas

By Samantha Fredell

If you really love to write, you would think it would be easy to come up with some good creative writing ideas. Sometimes it is, but other times you get writer’s block. Most often, you would think of writer’s block as something you get when you are working on something, maybe an article or novel, and you can’t think of what to write next. This is writer’s block, but sometimes you need ideas on what to write in the first place.

If you want some creative writing ideas and like fiction, you might want to try your hand at some short stories. Even if you have an idea that you think is dumb, give it a try and write. If it doesn’t work out, it won’t be so bad because it was only a short story and didn’t take you very long.

For specific ideas, look around you. Pay attention to people around you. Listen to their conversations. If it’s interesting, maybe you could write about it? Pick a surrounding you are familiar with, maybe at school, work, or a favorite destination and build a story around it. You could use one room in a building you know well and create a whole story about it.

How about your dreams? If you dream a lot and remember your dreams, think about how you could turn them into a story. If you have wacky dreams and love to write fantasy or sci-fi, this might be perfect for you. You could write down your dream word for word and then add to it. Or, you could just use one idea from it.

This about what happens to you. If you keep a diary or journal, read through it and see if you can find any ideas. Think about the funniest or most interesting thing that has ever happened to you and write it into a story.

If you ever run out of creative writing ideas, all you have to do is look around. Give yourself some time and you will think of something. Even if you start an idea that you don’t really like, you might think of a better one I the process. Whatever you decide, just keep writing.

If you really want to improve your writing and keep at it on a regular basis, you need to stay motivated. Follow the blog Express it in words for fresh new writing tips and ideas every week.
