The Story Ideas Virtuoso – The Next 200
By Deb Gallardo
When I started writing the first article on July 25, 2007 – not even a year ago – I had just gotten my blog set up and was learning my way around the Word Press interface. I had to tweak my templates until I was okay with the layout (I still want to continue tweaking, but other things have precedence). If I had thought about hitting the milestone of 200 posts, I’m not certain I would have had the courage to even start with the first one.
So rather than look at the enormity of the task of populating a blog with good content, and instead of wondering where i was going to come up with it after having been unable to write with any consistency for so long (lengthy, boring story), I just started writing. I took the attitude of “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
And now, beyond all expectation this time last year, I have reached and surpassed the 200th blog post here at The Story Ideas Virtuoso. I’ll reach another blog milestone come July 25th of this year, and a personal milestone on July 29th – my 59th birthday. It’s going to be a busy summer.
So what can you expect in the months ahead?
- More story ideas, certainly. They will always be the focus.
- Publication of the Calendar of Our Lives as a downloadable pdf file to coincide with the one-year anniversary of The Story Ideas Virtuoso.
- Launch of my ebook “Story Ideas – Inside Your Newspaper” at its own website, scheduled to coincide with my birthday a few days after my blog’s birthday. For a sneak-peak at my ebook, go here for a free excerpt (Opens in new window).
- More articles on writing exercises, creativity, writers’ resources and writing prompts.
- By this time next year I hope to have added a section on creative writing geared towards teachers.
- More how-to-find-ideas content for non-fiction writers – especially bloggers.
I’m surprising myself by what I’m about to say: I’m now looking forward to my 1000th post. Somehow that seems infinitely do-able and not a bit out of reach. I’m not, however, putting a time limit on that goal. Let’s just say some time in the next two years and leave it at that. Thanks for coming along on this celebration ride. Thank you for reading and spending time at The Story Ideas Virtuoso. I welcome your comments and am grateful when you take the time to tell me what you like or don’t like. You’re always welcome here!
