Creative Writing Tips – How to Set Deadlines

From the blog Pick the Brain, comes this to-the-point article on when and when not to set deadlines for yourself. As a chronic procrastinator, I’ve tried all the “Don’t do this at home” tricks. This article really nails down the best times you SHOULD set a deadline and particular cases where you should NEVER set a deadline. The author is so right about this. I’m going to print these out and post them next to my computer!

A deadline is a budget for your time. Just like a budget for your spending can help keep you out of debt, keeping budgets for your time can keep you productive. If used appropriately, a deadline can greatly increase the chances you’ll finish a project. But if you misuse them, deadlines can just become a headache.
