Story Ideas – Organize to Keep Story Ideas Flowing

By Deb Gallardo

When snippets of ideas come to us – nothing big, not exactly a spark – just something that caught our attention, it’s important to WRITE THEM DOWN. Trust me, the memory is one of the first things to go.

I jokingly say that the reason women over 40 should think twice before having babies is because we’d lay them down and not remember where we left them. Not a good thing with babies. Unlike car keys, however, a baby would eventually let you know where it was.

Don’t rely, therefore, on memory when it comes to story ideas. Your mind may let you down just when you need it most. Blame it on your muse.

Freelance writer Dana Prince has a more compelling reason for maintaining a file of writing ideas – such a file can keep those ideas flowing!

My ‘Work in Progress’ folder lives on my desktop… A great way to [keep fresh content on my blogs] is to refer to my list of ideas and continually add to it… Nothing is an imagination killer more than setting a deadline unless you have titles and ideas or half written posts or articles or outlines already done… Here’s how I organize it:

    Dana,

I’m pleased that you found my blog a place you might get inspired yourself. Thank you for that! Link love is what it’s all about, except I’m also “all about” content. And your article provided an excellent nucleus around which to fashion a story ideas tip.

    Don’t you just love synergy?

Thank you for taking the time to comment!

    Deb
